Prates says Makhachev is stronger than Morales standing
Karlos Prates compared the striking of Islam Makhachev and Michael Morales and said Makhachev is the stronger fighter on the feet.
Brazilian UFC fighter Karlos Prates compared the fighting styles of Islam Makhachev and Michael Morales. In his view, Makhachev is stronger than Morales standing. Prates said Morales is physically very strong, but his striking technique is not as refined, and he mainly tries to move forward and knock out his opponent.
Prates noted that Makhachev is much more technical on the feet. He has a strong coach in Javier Mendes and always poses a takedown threat. For this reason, Prates said, fighting Makhachev standing up would be harder than fighting Morales. "For me, Morales would be the more favorable opponent," he said.
Makhachev is the UFC welterweight champion and is ranked first in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings. His record is 29-1-0. Morales has a 19-0-0 record and is ranked third in the UFC welterweight division.
