Farid Basharat speaks out about leaving the UFC
Farid Basharat says there were no normal contract talks with the UFC and criticizes the promotion's preference for aggressive fighters.

Farid Basharat has spoken openly about his departure from the UFC. He did not agree with Dana White’s comments and said there were no proper negotiations with the UFC over a new contract.
According to Basharat, for three months he was not offered an opponent, a fight date or a new contract. He therefore rejected claims that he asked for too much money or avoided fights. Basharat has won all 16 of his professional fights.
Basharat believes the UFC now wants more entertaining, aggressive fighters who fight in a 'war' style. As an example, he cited Petr Yan: “Petr Yan hasn’t finished anyone in six years. Does that make him a boring fighter? Of course not.” His main point is that a fight going to the judges’ decision does not make a fighter boring.
